About Me
Hi, I’m Vicki Smith, a virtual mental health counselor. I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas. I offer online counseling through my private practice, making it easy to get support from the comfort of your own home. I work with individuals, couples, and families of all ages. Life can feel overwhelming at times—whether you’re dealing with relationship challenges, big life transitions, anxiety, depression, stress, grief, or something that’s just been weighing on you. You don’t have to carry it alone. My goal is to help you find practical ways to cope, feel more balanced, and function better in your everyday life. I strive to create a relaxed, supportive, and welcoming space where you can feel comfortable being yourself and working toward feeling better, one step at a time.
Experience
I spent 30 years working in public schools and have been a counselor since 2005. That time gave me the chance to work with people from all kinds of backgrounds, races, cultures, genders, and orientations, so I’m comfortable helping a wide variety of clients with a wide variety of issues. I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which is all about looking at how our thoughts and actions affect our feelings and behaviors. Together, we’ll identify patterns that might be holding you back and work on replacing negative thoughts with healthier ones, so you can feel and act in ways that truly support your well-being.
Message to Clients
My goal is simple: to help you become your healthiest, happiest self. I do ask that you come ready to put in the work and stay open to the process—change doesn’t happen overnight, but it does happen when we trust the journey. I’ve always believed that if someone leaves a session feeling even a little better than when they arrived, that’s a win.We won’t be chasing a perfect life here—just a life that works better for you. I’ll work with you on whatever’s weighing you down, and it’s important that we’re both clear on what you want from therapy and what you can expect from me. I keep things friendly and supportive, but I won’t shy away from challenging you when it’s needed to create real breakthroughs. Together, our goal is to help you feel lighter, stronger, and more like yourself.
What to Expect
All of our sessions will be virtual, over video, and usually last about 53–60 minutes. In our first session, we’ll spend time getting to know each other. I want to make sure you feel comfortable with me and understand how I work. We’ll talk about what you hope to get out of therapy and I’ll share what you can expect from me. I’ll ask a lot of questions—not to overwhelm you, but to really understand you and figure out the best way to help. If you’re younger, parents might be involved so everyone is on the same page about what therapy will look like. Healing works best when you’re an active part of it, and I’ll be here to guide and support you every step of the way.
